'The Bachelorette' 2012 - Emily Maynard's Contestants, Are They Going to Be "Father Material"?

Contestants for "The Bachelorette" 2012 with Emily Maynard will have to be ready, able, and willing to be a step-father to her six-year-old daughter.

Emily Maynard is officially "The Bachelorette" of 2012 and fans are beyond thrilled about that. No doubt the contestants who will be on season 8 will be, too! One thing for certain Emily will need from her cast is men willing to not only love her, but accept and love her six-year-old daughter, Ricki, as well. How many guys on the show will actually be ready to fill those kinds of shoes? The host of "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette," Chris Harrison, told Reality TV World what qualities the men must have if they are going to shoot for a chance with Emily.

Harrison says of the man Emily will pick:

"I'm speaking as a dad here, not even for Emily. He needs to be ready -- not say he's ready. He's gotta be ready, ready. And to be the step-dad, that's different even. So, it's a big step and it's going to be interesting to see these guys evolve and really -- I bet that some of them are going to be like, 'You know what? I'm not ready. I'm out.' That's going to be part of this season."

It will bring an entirely different angle to the forefront of "The Bachelor" franchise having Emily Maynard as "The Bachelorette" in 2012. The contestants must be ready, able, and willing to be a stepfather.

Last year Emily insisted that she would not agree to be "The Bachelorette." She wanted to maintain focus in raising Ricki and hated the media attention when she was with Brad Womack. She rarely had a moment's peace when she was engaged to Womack. Surprisingly, Harrison believes Maynard is best suited for another man like him. He told TV Guide recently that someone like Brad would be sweet, treat her like a lady, and be ready for fatherhood. "The Bachelor/ette" host agreed that sounded strange given the fact they split up, but Emily did find those fundamental qualities in Brad appealing.

It is hard to picture Emily with a contestant from "The Bachelorette" who will be out of touch with classic gentlemanly qualities. She is a southern belle at heart and appreciates that in a man. Her reserved nature and demand to be treated well will definitely increase the standards of men, which is a very good thing!

What kind of contestants will viewers see on "The Bachelorette" when it airs in late May 2012? The producers always claim this year is better than the one before, but this year that is a true statement!
